WOW!!!! Didn't plan on going, wasn't sure I was going when we did decide to try and go, ended up going and had a GREAT TIME!!!!!!
We headed to Boone late Tuesday after staying home for Austins first ever Cross Country Event. He did good and learned that a double knot is a must on running shoes. Once in Boone we pulled in after the races and set up at about 2a.m. Ended up next to three Racers from New York and had a blast with them all weekend. Great racers, Great People.
Wednesday night I drew outside front row for my heat and had them covered until a yellow slowed me down. On the restart I missed my mark and jumped the cushion, lost the lead and ended up doing a nice 360 trying to get it back. sooooo we move on to Thursday. Another front row, another loss. Made one of the b's for points and ran great, but not enough. Dan made the A qualifier on Thursday but got run over and had to pit for a tire. Made it back to 12th.
Friday I ran second in my heat and ran another b for points. Saturday's last chance heat we made the cut for the A qualifier and again it looked like we had the Car to get in.....ended up trying to go around the top and a wreck got in the way, I got some great Air time and landed hard, felt my back pop and then hit the wall head on. I couldn't breath for a few minutes. When the Ambulance got to me I told them I was ok and if the Car was good enough I wanted to race. They said only if I promise to pull off if I feel dizzy....I promised I would and returned to the race a little bent but still fast. On my way back to the front another wreck found me and I was unable to avoid contact and lost a right front tire. I was disappointed to be done. But I had such a great time this year that I figured I would be able to recover. Hope we can do it again next year.
Next up is a weekend off to rest my back and prepare the car for Thunder on the Hill on Sept 23rd and 24th. Looking forward to some more great racing and camping at the Track. Plan to have the Rooster on fire that weekend!!!!! Hope to see everyone there!!!!!
